For the 5th year, Pegasus Courier SRL has been one of the major sponsors for the Bucharest Caledonian Ball and in addition has provided the staff to run the main aspects of the event.
Bucharest's 10th Caledonian Ball took place in the Cercul Militar, on 23rd of November 2007 and gathered around 350 guests for the purpose of raising funds for charities.
For the event, 9 employees of Pegasus Courier offered to work as bar staff, security and other preparatory tasks, in the day of the Ball.
Being a part of organizational stuff, for such an event implies responsibility and a great deal of work. The program starts early in the morning and finished around 5 am the following day.
Pegasus Team was in charge with the arrangement of the tables, the stage, all the glasses and other tasks as taking care of provisions. The busiest period of the day started in the evening, once the guests arrived. Then, the Pegasus Team took care of the bar orders, security and all needed for a successful party.
"Working for such an important event is extremely hard work but we know it is for a noble purpose, so it is our pleasure to be a part of it" explains Alexandru Stanciu, one of the Pegasus employees involved in the event's organization.
The first Caledonian Ball started in the 1840s as a private gathering given by the Duke and Duchess of Atholl for their Scottish friends who resided in London. By 1849, still at their invitation, it became a subscription dance for the purposes of collecting funds for Scottish charities, for different areas and countries.
In Romania, the Caledonian Ball is organized annually by Light into Europe, a British Charity foundation opened in 1990, to provide humanitarian relief and medical evacuation by air. Since 2004 it has been focusing on deaf and blind communities in Romania.
The Bucharest 10th Caledonian Ball raised more 40,000 euros for its charity purpose and it was considered one of the most important charity events of 2007.
For Pegasus Courier it becomes a tradition to participate at the Ball as sponsor and also as a part of organizational staff. The company has always been socially responsible, getting involved in different activities, such as offering jobs to the "orphans", supporting various NGOs and associations for youth, helping young people from different disadvantages backgrounds or supporting social projects regarding the environment and projects such as the bike paths construction in Bucharest.
