U.S. Express Mail company Airborne comes to Romania through Pegasus

AIRBORNE Express, the third largest express mail company in the United Sates and the fifth largest in the world, has concluded a partnership with Romanian firm Pegasus thereby of extending Pegasus’s service range to now offer International import and export of documents and packages.

“Airborne Express prefers to extend its activity through strategic partnerships with local companies, thus having the advantage of being able to offer its customers competitive prices for services, due to the lower operating costs of its strategic partner,” James Gray-Cheape, Managing Director of Pegasus / Airborne Express, told Ziarul Finaciar.

The Romanian rapid mail market will be this way be disputed among four of the largest five suppliers of such services at a world level: Airborne, TNT, which entered the market in the autumn of 1999, DHL, present on the market since 1984 and UPS.

Pegasus was set up in 1997, being entirely British held, and started operating internal mail in Bucharest. Subsequently, the company also introduced Mail Shot services (distribution of documents, invitations, bills, offers, addresses packages) and the Direct Mail service, through which customers can benefit from the management of very large volumes of correspondence, together with everything related to multiplication, packaging, cost administration and to the arranging of all the postal formalities.

Pegasus Floral, allows customers from abroad to choose a bouquet of flowers accompanied by a message. Orders can be via internet or by telephone.

Pegasus Global Express, allows customers to send documents and packages to over 220 countries worldwide at extremely competitive prices and speeds of delivery, via the medium of Airborne Express.

Last year, Pegasus registered a profitability of 15% against its turnover and the total number of packages transported was over 1.5 million, as compared to 0.5 million during the previous year.
