After nearly 3 years on the Romanian market, James Gray-Cheape rightly considers his business a real success story. With a massive 300% increase in turnover in 1999, Gray - Cheape's PEGASUS courier service has not only become a necessity for the majority of multinationals here but also for an increasing number of local companies.
"The representatives of large international corporations, as well as small and medium-sized foreign-owned enterprises, understand the importance of a professional courier service," says Gray-Cheape. PEGASUS started in 1997 employing eight people. Five of these were youngsters from a local orphanage. Their teacher had recommended them to Gray-Cheape as being trust-worthy, tough and having good English communication skills.
Gray-Cheape was constantly told by Romanian friends that it was too risky working with underprivileged children but he remained undaunted and the idea was extremely well received by all of his customers. Today PEGASUS has a dynamic staff of 40 and is proud of its diverse range services.
